Ben Cameron, Senior Adviser and former President (2015–23), was Program Director for the Arts at the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation (2006-15), where, during his tenure, the Foundation created the Doris Duke Artists Awards and received the National Medal of the Arts from President Barack Obama. He previously served as the Executive Director of Theatre Communications Group, as the Senior Program Officer for the Dayton Hudson Foundation and Manager of Community Relations for Target Stores, and as the Director of the Theater Program at the National Endowment for the Arts. He received an MFA from the Yale School of Drama, a BA with honors from UNC-CH and is a recipient of three honorary degrees. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Council on Foundations.

William Sheeline has been a Jerome Foundation Member since 2013. Prior to that he was a Trustee of the Camargo Foundation from 2005 to 2013. His father, Paul Sheeline, was a friend of Jerome Hill’s and a Trustee of the Camargo Foundation from its early years in the 1970s until 2003.

Sheeline spent the first part of his career as a journalist with Fortune Magazine and then spent the 1990s as a member of the investment team at GEICO, the insurance company. Today his company, Longview Research Partners, serves investment firms and specializes in deep due diligence on companies, an approach to investigative field research that assesses the quality—of people, processes and culture—of businesses in order to better understand their associated risks, opportunities and prospects as investments.

Sheeline also serves on the Board of Directors of the Oyster Bay Youth & Family Counseling Agency. He is a past Trustee of East Woods School in Oyster Bay and a current member of its Investment Committee. He is also a member of the Station Committee of the Oyster Bay Railroad Museum, a local effort to renovate the abandoned train station first used by Theodore Roosevelt.

William Russell has been a Member of the Jerome Foundation since 2004. He has been closely associated with the Hill family for three generations, and considered Jerome Hill (“Uncle Romie”) an informal mentor and exceptionally formative influence on his intellectual maturation and appreciation for the importance of the arts in human life. In the 1960s, Russell spent many summers at Jerome’s estate in Cassis, France—now home to the Camargo Foundation.

After Harvard College and a semester at Harvard Divinity School, in 1963 began teaching at Noble & Greenough School. He then became an assistant dean at Harvard while doing graduate work in the philosophy of education at Boston University. After completing his doctorate in 1971, Russell taught at Emerson College. He then worked in the Division of Education Programs at the National Endowment for the Humanities from 1973–79, followed by his management of Norton Company’s corporate foundation. In 1981 he became a consultant, working with the Project on Private Philanthropy and Voluntarism at the Institute for Educational Affairs in NYC, the Boston Cardiovascular Health Center, and a variety of start-up and early-stage companies. In the early 1990s, Russell went to Boston University’s School of Education to serve as the Senior Development Officer.

Since 2002, Bill has focused his consulting on nonprofits and foundations, and has served on many boards. His wife and three adult children provide the greatest of his many blessings.

Christine Ljungkull, a friend of the Hill family, was elected as a Member of the Jerome Foundation in 1998. She has served on planning committees for both the Centennial Celebration of Jerome Hill’s birth with events held in Minnesota, New York, and Cassis, France and the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Jerome Foundation with events in Minnesota and New York. She has also served as Member Liaison to numerous Jerome Foundation committees.

Ljungkull was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota where her early love for painting and drawing often had her spending summer weekends at Art-in-the-Park events meeting local artists. She eventually settled in the beautiful Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada where she became Director of the Bishop’s University Artists’ Centre in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

After retiring, Ms. Ljungkull joined the Board of Directors of the Lennoxville Historical and Museum Society, serving as President of the Board and working on the management of their property, archival collection, exhibition preparation, and fundraising. Most recently she served on the Board of Directors of The Eastern Townships Research Centre and their Archives Committee dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the area.

Since moving to Ottawa, Canada in 2014 Ljungkull continues to pursue volunteer opportunities. She and her husband are fitness and outdoor enthusiasts enjoying a wide range of activities, most recently a passion for running. They have five children and nine grandchildren.

Libby Hlavka has been a Jerome Foundation Member since 2015. She is a member of the Hill family and grew up in St. Paul hearing wonderful stories about Jerome Hill, a first cousin of her grandfather. Several of his paintings hang in her home and remind her daily of Jerome’s legacy—his vivid example of a passionate life devoted to creating art and supporting artists. 

Hlavka has over twenty years of experience in strategic planning, program development, and financial management within academic, corporate, and non-profit organizations. She currently serves as President of the Driscoll Foundation. Before returning to Minnesota, she held several senior administrative positions within Stanford University, focused on strategy and curriculum development. Prior to Stanford, Hlavka was a consultant with McKinsey & Company. She began her career as a financial manager at GE.

In addition to the Jerome Foundation, Hlavka serves on the boards of the Northwest Area Foundation, the Minnesota Historical Society, and Minnesota Public Radio/American Public Media. Her past board experience includes College Possible, Franconia Sculpture Park, Milkweed Editions, and St. Paul Academy and Summit School, and she is an active volunteer and fundraiser for a number of other schools and non-profit organizations.

Hlavka received a BA in History from Yale University, an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, and an MFA in Literature and Creative Writing from Bennington College. She lives in Minneapolis with her husband and their three children.

Ryan Lee Wong (elected 2018) is a writer and arts organizer based in Brooklyn. His curatorial work connects Asian American activist histories to the present, and includes the exhibition Roots: Asian American Movements in Los Angeles 1968-80s at the Chinese American Museum and Serve the People at Interference Archive. His arts criticism, focused on the intersections between art and politics, has appeared in The Village Voice, T Magazine, and Hyperallergic, as well as catalogues for the New Museum and Social Practice Queens.

Wong has served as a Visiting Scholar at the A/P/A Institute at NYU, Managing Director of Kundiman, a Visiting Critic at RISD, Assistant Curator at the Museum of Chinese in America, and an exhibitions administrator at the Metropolitan Museum. He has presented talks at Brooklyn Museum, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Asia Art Archive, Independent Curators International, and numerous universities.

Mark Tribe (elected 2017) is an artist who works across media and forms, including painting, photography, installation, video and performance. His recent work explores the relationship between landscape and technology.

He has had solo exhibitions at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.; Momenta Art in New York; Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions; the Queen Victoria Museum in Launceston, Australia; and DiverseWorks in Houston. His work has also been shown at Jack Shainman Gallery in New York; Ronald Feldman Gallery in New York; Yossi Milo Gallery in New York; the Palais de Tokyo in Paris; the Menil Collection in Houston; the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris; the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York; the National Center for Contemporary Arts in Moscow; MUAC in Mexico City; SITE Santa Fe; the San Diego Museum of Art; el Museo de Antioquia in Medellín; the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin; the Telfair Museum of Art in Savannah; the Montclair Art Museum in New Jersey; the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, Mass; and the Contemporary Museum in Baltimore. His work has been reviewed or discussed in  Artforum,  Art in America,  Artnews, the Brooklyn Rail,  Die Welt,  El Pais,  Flash Art,  Frieze,  Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung,  Hyperallergic, the  Los Angeles Times,  Modern Painters,  Newsweek, and the  New York Times. He has received grants from Creative Capital and the New York Foundation for the Arts. He is the author of two books, The Port Huron Project: Reenactments of New Left Protest Speeches (Charta, 2010) and New Media Art (Taschen, 2006), and numerous articles.

Tribe is Chair of the MFA Fine Arts Department at School of Visual Arts in New York City. In 1996, he founded Rhizome, an organization that supports the creation, presentation, preservation, and critique of emerging artistic practices that engage technology.

Elizabeth Streb (elected 2012), has dived through glass, walked down London's City Hall, dumped a ton of dirt on her head, and set herself on fire, among many other feats of extreme action. She founded the STREB EXTREME ACTION COMPANY in 1979 and established SLAM (STREB Lab for Action Mechanics) in Brooklyn, NY in 2003. Streb holds a MA in Humanities and Social Thought from New York University, a BS in Modern Dance from SUNY Brockport, and two honorary doctorates SUNY Brockport and Rhode Island College and has received numerous honors including the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation 'Genius' Award, the Guggenheim Fellowship and a Doris Duke Artist Award.

A board member of the Jerome Foundation, Streb has been a featured speaker at TED2018: The Age of Amazement, BRAINWAVE at The Rubin Museum, TEDxMET, the Institute for Technology and Education, POPTECH, the Institute of Contemporary Art, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Rochester Institute of Technology, the Association of Performing Arts Presenters, the Penny Stamps Speaker Series, Chorus America, and on NPR's Science Friday.  Streb was profiled by Alec Wilkinson in an extended essay for the New Yorker magazine, was featured in the Smithsonian Magazine (“The New American Circus”), and in 2019 was featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal.  Streb is the subject of two documentaries: Born to Fly, directed by Catherine Gund (Aubin Pictures), which premiered at the SXSW Festival and was featured at the Film Forum in NYC and OXD, directed by Craig Lowy, which premiered at Doc NYC. In 20I0, Feminist Press published her book, STREB: How to Become an Extreme Action Hero.
