Photographer VANCE GELLERT will travel to Atlanta, Georgia, for four days to attend the 1995 meeting of the Society for Photographic Education and make contact with artists in the Atlanta area.

Writer DIANE GLANCY will travel to North and South Dakota for one week to work on a collection of essays.

Choreographer va Mria Hoerr was awarded $4,625 to spend five weeks in Hungary and Romania. In two Hungarian villages she'll attend workshops that offer intensive training in local dance styles and live folk music. In Budapest she'll conduct research in institutions such as the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble Library, the Academy of Musical Science and the Folk Art Museum.

DICK HUSS, a glass artist, received a grant to spend three weeks in Deer Isle, Maine, at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts to continue his studies in Italian glass blowing techniques with a master artist.

DIANE KATSIAFICAS, ANNE KLEINHENZ EGAN, JERALD KREPPS, AND MARA ZOTTNERS will travel to Tirana, Albania, for two weeks, to visit the Academy of Fine arts, to present an exhibition of their work, slide lectures, and to meet with Albanian artists.

Joel Katz will produce Peripetia: Carrie Wagner's Travels as a half-hour experimental documentary about travel, tourism and the colonial gaze. It will explore the projection of desire, the quest for exoticism, and the revelation of cultural perspective, all of which are parts of the schizophrenic experience of tourism.

The Duluth Art Institute, Duluth, Minnesota, received $12,000 to continue the Keepers of the Waters project, conceived and directed by artist Betsy Damon. Keepers of the Waters was launched by the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute at the University of Minnesota in 1990. The project invites artists, scientists, economists, policy-makers and educators to collaborate in placing issues of clean water in citizens' hands.

Andrew K. Kim, a writer, theater artist and teacher was awarded $985 to spend six days in San Francisco, California. There he'll see Asian theater and puppet and mask theater. The experience will help him create plays rooted in both forms.

TOM KING, a novelist, will travel in the Western United StatesOklahoma to California, for 12 weeks, conducting research for a book of essays.

Director Wendy Knox was awarded $4,050 to spend three weeks in Leeuwarden and Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Paris, France. In both locations, she'll research the life of Mata Hari for a new theater piece.

Writer, EDWARD LEE received a grant for 12 weeks of travel and study in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to explore cultural and racial relations as expressed by contemporary writers in that region.

Critic, CAMILLE LEFEVRE will develop the critical currency with which to discuss, assess and write about the roles (environmental, spiritual, metaphorical, communal) and meaning of site-specific performance in American culture while traveling for six days in Lincoln, Nebraska, and Gilsum, New Hampshire

KATE LEHMANN, a producer and administrator, received a grant for six days of travel and study in New York to research and develop a management and leadership training program for independent film and video producers.
