Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX), Brooklyn, New York, received a two-year grant of $80,000 for Artist in Residence Programs providing New York City-based early career dance, theater and performance artists space, stipends, artistic mentorship, and technical and administrative support for the development of new work in 2018–19 and 2019–20.

The artist will travel to Haiti for 31 days. In preparation for a feature-length experimental film about women, family, and land in Haiti, Bruno will conduct research and collect individual stories, particularly from matriarchs, which deal with common generational land disputes that violently and deeply divide families across the Caribbean.

The Camargo Foundation received $115,000 in support of its ongoing programs, activities, and related administrative costs in 2018.

The Camargo Foundation received a one-time grant of $750,000 to support a Board-designated fund to be used for programs, activities, services, facilities and other needs.

Cave Canem, Brooklyn, New York, received a one-year grant of $25,000 to support two workshops for 30 early career/emerging poets to create new work and study with renowned instructors in 2019.

The Cedar Cultural Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received a two-year grant of $80,000 for The Cedar Commissions, commissioning six emerging Minnesota-based artists per year to create and perform new work in 2018–19 and 2019–20.

Center for Fiction, New York City, received a one-year grant of $42,500 in support of the NYC Emerging Writers Fellowship, for 9 early career writers in year-long residencies to research, develop, and create new work.

The Chocolate Factory Theater, Long Island City, New York, received a one-year grant of $32,000 to provide commissions, salaried residencies, and production and capacity building support for two choreographers as well as creative residencies for 3–4 artists of color. These opportunities will be awarded to New York City-based early career artists in 2018–19.

The artist will  travel to Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa for 21 days. Codjoe will meet with the poet Phillippa Yaa De Villiers, visit the Museum of Contemporary African Art in Cape Town, and reflect on: “In what ways can my poems variously render the inherent connections between the personal and the political, the public and the private?”

Coffee House Press, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received a one-year grant of $25,000 for the publication and promotion of five new books of poetry and hybrid prose by diverse early career/emerging Minnesota and New York City authors from 2018–19 and 2019–2020.

Community of Literary Magazines and Presses (CLMP), New York City, received a one-year grant of $46,000 for FACE OUT, a program that empowers four early-career New York City-based authors to take an active role in how their manuscripts are published and promoted, and provides them and their partnering publishers with resources and tools for successfully marketing their books to their greatest potential.

The artist will travel to Phoenix, AZ for 4 days to participate in the 2018 NonfictioNOW conference, to be hosted by Arizona State University.

Danspace Project, New York City, received a one-year grant of $34,500 to support seven New York City or Minnesota-based early career choreographers in the emerging artist commissions and production residency program.

Dixon Place, New York City, received a one-year grant of $25,000 for the Commissioning Program for New York City-based early career artists to create and present new work (two workshops and three full productions) in 2019.

The artist will travel to Bukhara, Samarkand, and Tashkent, Uzbekistan and Moscow, Russia for 21 days to conduct research around her familial legacy for a new video project centered on her family's story of the Bolshevik revolution and the Perestroika.

Ensemble Studio Theatre, New York City, received a one-year grant of $20,000 for the EST/Youngblood program, serving 30 New York City-based playwrights under 30 years of age to develop their writing and create new work.

ETHEL’s Foundation for the Arts, New York City, received a one-year grant of $20,000 for ETHEL’s HomeBaked Round IV for commissioning and premieres of new work by four New York City-based early career artists.

Forecast Public Art, St. Paul, Minnesota, received a two-year grant of $80,000 to support six early career Minnesota-based artists to implement a public art project or perform research and development on a public art idea in 2019 and 2020.

Four Way Books, New York City, received a one-year grant of $23,000 for the New Stars Are Born program, which will publish three debut or second collection poetry books by early career/emerging poets based in Minnesota or New York City.

Franconia Sculpture Park, Shafer, Minnesota, received a one-year grant of $39,000 for the FSP/Jerome Emerging Artist Fellowship Program, providing four emerging artists or artist teams from Minnesota and New Your City fellowships to create and exhibit large-scale three-dimensional artwork in 2019.
