JB Hunt is a midwestern trucking company that Trillium engaged starting in 2016 around prohibiting discrimination based on “sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.” JB Hunt first opposed adding language for protection of its LGBTQ employees and prospective employees, but ultimately adopted it under pressure from Trillium and other shareholders.
In 2020, as the Covid-19 pandemic drove demand for goods (vs. services) and shipping companies were under pressure to ship historically high volumes quickly, JB Hunt’s progressive labor policies with respect to the LGBTQ community made it more competitive vs. peers at hiring and retaining talent.
Most recently (Q1 2024), Trillium conducted another engagement with JB Hunt that led to the company extending health coverage to transgender employees and domestic partners of employees for medically necessary, gender-affirming care.
