EYEBEAM ATELIER, Brooklyn, New York, received a grant of $15,000 in support of the Artists@Eyebeam Residency Program. Eyebeam is a nonprofit artist colony and R&D lab that supports creative risk-taking. Eyebeam provides young and emerging artists with time, digital and other tools, work space and monetary support to create new work that pushes the frontiers of art and technology. Eyebeam has awarded some 270 residencies over the past 17 years, providing both significant financial support and the tools and means to create new art and new media. The organization's principal activities revolve around the work of its resident artists, and Eyebeam is proud to deliver their finished work through various means, such as its Annual Showcase and other programs. Eyebeam exposes diverse audiences to experimental and interdisciplinary work, providing an environment for dialogue, collaboration, learning and discovery.

FilmNorth (formerly Independent Filmmaker Project Minnesota), Saint Paul, Minnesota, received $35,000 in support of the 2015 season of MNTV, a series of three public television shows featuring short films made within the last 18 months by Minnesota filmmakers. MNTV is a catalyst for film and video artists to produce work and develop professionally. The series nurtures creativity, allows creative risks, advances difficult issues and represents non-mainstream points of view. MNTV’s eclectic compilations regularly showcase innovative and provocative work. All three one-hour shows are broadcast on Twin Cities Public Television (TPT), as well as public television stations in Duluth, Appleton, Rochester, the Bemidji/Brainerd area, and Fargo/Moorhead. IFP Minnesota’s mission is to advance a vibrant and diverse community of independent film and media artists through networking, education, funding, and opportunities for showcasing their work.  IFP Minnesota envisions a world where expression through images is encouraged and valued.

It supports the independent filmmaker by creating a healthy and viable filmmaking community in Minnesota. The Equipment Rental Program provides low-cost access to top-quality filmmaking equipment. Training and Professional Development Programs assist emerging filmmakers in developing their craft and professional skills, including master classes, technology training, business skills development, seminars, and classes.

In partnership with Twin Cities Public Television and the Walker Art Center, IFP Minnesota received support to broadcast Minnesota filmmakers' works within the series MNtv. This annual series has been showcasing the finest work by Minnesota filmmakers for over 20 years. It consists of three episodes that highlight new short films made within the previous 18 months by Minnesota filmmakers.

New Radio and Performing Arts fosters the development of new and experimental work for radio and sound arts. Turbulence commissions works by individuals and collectives who creatively explore the Internet as both the side of production and transmission. The completed works reflect exploration and experimentation in digital network environments, ranging from hypertext to information visualization, blogs to social networks, and interactive music and dance compositions to 3-D architecture, virtual worlds, and apps.

Northern Lights.mn presents innovative art, both physical and virtual, in the public sphere, focusing on artists creatively using technology, both bold and new, to engender new relations between audience and artwork and more broadly between citizenry and their built environment. Art(ists) on the Verge is an intensive mentor-based fellowship program for five Minnesota-based emerging artists or artist groups working experimentally at the intersection of art, technology, and digital culture. The program focuses on network-based practices that are interactive and/or participatory.

RHIZOME, New York City, received a two-year grant of $40,000 in support of Rhizome Commissions to New York City-based emerging artists for the creation of new works. Rhizome supports contemporary art that creates richer and more critical digital cultures. Each emerging artist will create works that take various forms tied together by their considered illumination of contemporary digital culture. Awards generally range from $1,000 to $5,000. An independent jury reviews submissions filed in response to an open call. As an arts organization based on the Internet, Rhizome re-thinks artistic creation, distribution, and reception in relation to changing conditions associated with network technologies. It functions as an affiliate in residence at the New Museum.

HARVESTWORKS, New York City, received $17,000 to support the participation of emerging New York City-based artists in the New Works Residency Program. Harvestworks supports the creation and presentation of artworks achieved through the use of new and evolving technologies. Harvestworks provides commissions, residencies, production services, education and information programs, and the presentation and distribution of work. Jerome’s support for the New Works Program subsidizes emerging artists, who receive commissions to make new work in the technology, engineering, art, and music lab. New works may include multiple channel audio and video installations; interactive performance systems; data visualizations of projects involving hardware hacking, circuit bending, or custom-built interface; and projects that use the Web. Residencies include 24-hour access to the studios, collaborative working environment, classes, rehearsal space, and technical systems.

RHIZOME, New York City, received $20,000 in support of its Commissions Program.  Rhizome is dedicated to the creation, presentation, preservation, and critique of emerging artistic practices that engage technology.  Through open platforms for exchange and collaboration, it encourages and expands communities around these practices.  Programs, many of which happen online, include commissions, exhibitions, events, discussions, archives, and portfolios.  The goal of the Commissions Program is to support emerging artists by providing grants for the creation of significant works of new media art.  Commissioned works may take the forms of web-based pieces, works that engage mobile platforms, performance, video, installation, and sound art.  Jerome support allows Rhizome to award commissions to emerging artists based in New York City.
