Kate Barr Elected to Board of Directors

The Jerome Foundation is delighted to announce that Kate Barr has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Jerome Foundation, beginning May 16, 2016.

Kate Barr

Kate is the Executive Director of Nonprofits Assistance Fund in Minneapolis, whose mission is to strengthen the community by investing capital and expertise in nonprofits.  She has led the organization’s growth as a premier resource for training, strategic financial consulting, and loans for nonprofit organizations.  Her responsibilities include strategic and business planning, development, external relations, and public policy.  In her career prior to joining NAF in 2000, she had been a bank executive and a manager for a performing arts nonprofit.  With her unique insight and experience, she is a popular speaker, trainer, and writer on nonprofit management, strategy, and finance.  Kate has a Master’s degree from Hamline University and has been a member of the adjunct faculty at both Hamline and the University of Minnesota.  She serves on the board of directors of Borealis Philanthropy and chairs the audit committee for the Cultural Data Project.  Kate will also serve on the Camargo Foundation Board of Trustees.

Kate replaces Barbara McLanahan, the Executive Director of the Children’s Museum of the Arts in New York, who ended her service on the Jerome Board after 9 years.  Both Jerome and Camargo are deeply indebted to Barbara for her extraordinary commitment, insight and dedication to the work of the Foundations and to artists in Minnesota and New York City. She will be greatly missed.
