KELLY, RAJA FEATHER, New York City, will travel to Lyon and Paris, France, to work collaboratively with performer/choreographer Laureling Richard. Using Virginia Woolf's Moments of Being as a creative impetus for conversation, Kelly and Richard will delve into performance as a philosophy, investigating fundamental questions about reality, existence, knowledge, values, reason, and language as a foundation for Kelly’s new movement-based work.

Recipient of the 2016 Solange MacArthur Award for New Choreography and a 2016 NYFA Fellowship Award Recipient, Raja Feather Kelly was born in Fort Hood, Texas and is the first and only choreographer to dedicate the entirety of his company’s work to Andy Warhol. He is the creator of ANDY WARHOL’S 25 CATS NAME SAM; ANDY WARHOL’S DRELLA (I LOVE YOU FAYE DRISCOLL); ANDY WARHOL’S 15: COLOR ME, WARHOL; ANOTHER 37 REASONS TO CRY (ANOTHER WARHOLIAN PRODUCTION); ANDY WARHOL’S TROPICO; and many short works, all of which have been created and performed throughout various theatres in New York City. For over a decade, Kelly has worked throughout the United States and abroad (Austria, Germany, Australia, United Kingdom, and France) in search of the connections between popular culture and humanity and their integration into experiential dance-theatre. Kelly currently choreographs, writes, and directs his own work as Artistic Director of the feath3r theory, a culture-driven dance-theatre company. TF3T was founded in 2009, when Artistic Director, Raja Feather Kelly, Premiered FANMAIL, a movement solo dedicated to his interest and infatuation with the life and work of Andy Warhol. New York Theater Review describes Kelly’s Warhol-inspired productions as “too viscerally engaging to turn away from” and Kelly himself as “a mad scientist of an artist.” TF3T has since been featured in The Brooklyn Rail, Hyperallergic, OUT.COM, Culturebot, chosen multiple times as a Critics’s and Editor’s Pick for Time Out New York, Flavorpill and The New York Times.
Last season, TF3T curated a dance concert, LYRICAL DANCES FOR A LOST GENERATION, dedicated to dance and music at the GK ArtsCenter in Dumbo, Brooklyn where they are company in residence and co-produced, with Danspace Project, ANDY WARHOL’S TROPICO.
Kelly can be seen in the work of Reggie Wilson/Fist and Heel Performance Group, Rebecca Lazier, and Christopher Williams. He has formerly been a company member with David Dorfman Dance, Zoe | Juniper, Racedance, and PearsonWidrig DanceTheater. Kelly collaborates with Tzveta Kassabova and Paul Matteson. He has had the pleasure of performing in the work of Colleen Thomas and Dancers, and Kyle Abraham/Abraham.In.Motion.
TF3T is currently working on the next installment to THE WARHOL SERIES- Another Fucking Warhol Production or Who's Afraid of Andy Wahrol- to premire at New York Live Arts through an American Dance Institute commission June 29-July 1.
