How to use Vimeo

How can I get a Vimeo account?

Go to www.vimeo.com/join. There you can create an account with your email address by filling in the form and selecting "Join with Email."

Click the "No thanks" link (unless you want to opt for a paid account), and get started by uploading a video. You'll receive an email asking you to confirm your account and verify your email address.

How do I upload a video?

  1. Click the "Upload a Video" button.
  2. Select your file from your computer. You can also connect to Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. and upload your video from that service.
  3. Set your privacy setting. You will want to pick either: Anyone can see this video, or Only people with a password can see this video (and then set your password for the video).

How do I get my video link?

  1. Click on the paper airplane "share" icon on your video.
  2. Select the text in the Link box and copy it.

Why do we require Vimeo and not accept YouTube or other streaming services?

We have chosen to use Vimeo, since it is already used by the vast majority of applicants, and staff and panelists are able to view samples without the interruption of ads.

A Vimeo account is free and uploading videos is simple and straightforward. You may also choose to password-protect your samples from the public. If you have issues creating an account, please contact Andrea Brown (651-925-5615 or abrown@jeromefdn.org).
