The Board of Trustees of the Jerome Foundation awarded grants in the 2016-17 fiscal year to the following organizations in two categories:

Support for Programs, Services, and Activities for Artists

Abrons Arts Center, New York, New York, received $21,000 in support of three commissioned projects by emerging performing artists in 2017-18. The selected choreographers receive a year of residency time to develop and present new work.

Alwan for the Arts, New York City, received $10,270 as fiscal sponsor for a four-week Jerome@Camargo residency in 2017 for Amir ElSaffar, New York, New York.

The Anderson Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, Red Wing, Minnesota received $42,500 over two years to support Jerome Fellows in 2016 and 2017, providing Minnesota or New York City emerging artists month-long residencies.

Art in General, Brooklyn, New York, received $40,000 over two years to support the New Commissions program in 2017 and 2018.

Asian American Writers' Workshop, New York City, received $48,000 over two years in support of the Margins Fellows, awarded to three emerging New York City-based writers per year in 2017 and 2018.

Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Brooklyn, New York, received $44,000 over two years to support emerging artists in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 Artist in Residence Program.

Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Brooklyn, New York, received $20,000 over two years as fiscal sponsor for 600 HIGHWAYMEN (Brooklyn, New York) in support of their development and production of The Total People. Brooklyn Arts Exchange was also awarded $35,000 as fiscal sponsor for 600 HIGHWAYMEN for a Jerome@Camargo residency.

Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Brooklyn, New York, received $24,000 over two years as fiscal sponsor in support of Marjani Forté & Works' (New York City) development and production of Memoirs of a….Unicorn.

Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Brooklyn, New York, received $12,000 as fiscal sponsor in support of Ni'Ja Whitson's (Brooklyn, New York) development and production of A Mediation on Tongues.

Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Brooklyn, New York, received $24,000 over two years as fiscal sponsor in support of Ni'Ja Whitson's development and production of Time Trickle ‘Cross You (The Hunted).

Cave Canem Foundation, Brooklyn, New York, received $55,000 over 2.5-years to support workshops for emerging African-American, Arab American, and poets of color living in New York City's five boroughs.

The Cedar Cultural Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $76,000 over two years to support the Commissions program for emerging Minnesota composers in 2016-17 and 2017-18. 

Coffee House Press, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $46,000 over two years to support the publication of six books by emerging authors from New York City or Minnesota in 2017 and 2018.

Danspace Project, New York City, received $69,000 over two years to support commissions to emerging New York City and/or Minnesota based choreographers in 2016-17 and 2017-18. 

Dixon Place, New York City, received $60,000 over two years in support of emerging artists in the 2017 and 2018 Commissioning Program and Artist-in-Residence Program.

Ensemble Studio Theatre, New York City, $40,000 over two years in support of the Youngbloods Program in 2016-17 and 2017-18. 

Eyebeam Atelier, New York City, received $30,000 over two years in support of emerging New York City artists’ participation in the residency program in 2017-18 and 2018-19.

Forecast Public Art, Saint Paul, Minnesota, received $80,000 over two years to support Project Grants and Research & Development Grants to emerging artists based in Minnesota in 2017 and 2018. 

Four Way Books, New York City, received $46,000 over two years to support the publication of new work by emerging New York City poets in 2017 and 2018.

Franconia Sculpture Park, Shafer, Minnesota, received $39,000 in support of the 2018 Emerging Artist Fellowship Program, providing residency and installation opportunities to six emerging three-dimensional artists from Minnesota and New York City to create large-scale sculpture to be exhibited at Franconia's 43-acre sculpture park.

Graywolf Press, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $23,000 to support the publication of books by three emerging New York City and Minnesota writers in 2016 and 2017.

Harvestworks, New York City, received $17,000 to support 4 emerging New York City-based artists’ participation in the Emerging Artist Residency Program (EAR) in 2017. 

In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $48,000 over two years to support Puppet Lab in 2016-17 and 2017-18.

IFP Minnesota, Saint Paul, Minnesota, received $70,000 over two years on behalf of the MNTV Consortium to support the broadcast of work by emerging Minnesota film and videomakers on MNTV in 2017 and 2018.

IFP Minnesota, Saint Paul, Minnesota, received $44,000 over two years to support 8 Professional Development scholarships and 10 free memberships for emerging Minnesota film and videomakers in 2017 and 2018.

James Sewell Ballet, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $22,600 over two years to support new works by emerging artists in the Ballet Works Project for 2017 and 2018.

The Jazz Gallery, New York City, received $50,000 over two years in support of the 2016-2017 and 2017-18 Residency Commissions program for emerging New York City jazz composers. 

The Kitchen, New York City, as fiscal sponsor for Jen Rosenblit, Brooklyn, New York, received $12,000 in support of the development and production of Swivel Spot in 2017.

The Lark Theater Company, New York City, received $66,000 over three years in support of the Jerome New York Fellowship and services for emerging playwright 2016-19.

The Laundromat Project, New York City, received $34,500 over two years in support of the Create Change Artist Residencies and Commissions program in 2017 and 2018. 

The Loft Literary Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $124,000 over two years to support the Minnesota Emerging Writers' Grant in 2016-17 and 2017-18.

The Loft Literary Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $122,000 over two years in support of the Mentor Series for Emerging Minnesota Writers in 2017-18 and 18-19.

Lower East Side Printshop, New York, New York, received $15,000 in support of eight emerging artists for Keyholder Residencies in FY2018.  Artists will receive free studio access for a full year, free materials, technical assistance, stipends, exhibitions, career development workshops, and networking opportunities.

Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, New York City, received $56,000 over two years to support the Workspace Program for emerging New York City artists in 2016-17 and 2017-18.

Ma-Yi Theater Company, New York City, $44,000 over two years to support the Writers' Lab in 2016-17 and 2018-19. 

Milkweed Editions, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $46,000 over two years to support the publication of six books by emerging authors from New York City or Minnesota in 2017 and 2018.

Minnesota Center for Book Arts, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $48,000 over two years to support the Jerome/MCBA Book Arts Mentorship VI in 2016-17 and Book Arts Fellowship XIV in 2017-18. 

Mu Performing Arts, Saint Paul, Minnesota, received $75,000 over three years to support the development and production of new works by May Lee-Yang and Qui Nguyen.

Nautilus Music-Theater, Saint Paul, Minnesota, received $40,000 over two years in support of two Composer-Librettist Studio and two years of Rough Cuts Commissioning projects for emerging artists.

New Dramatists, New York City, received $84,000 over two years to support the Playwrights Lab.

New York Live Arts, New York City, as fiscal sponsor for 7 Daughters of Eve / Sibyl Kempson, New York City, received $20,000 over two years in support of the creation and production of The Securely Conferred, Vouchsafed Keepsakes Of Maery S. and Sasquatch Rituals in 2017 and 2018.

New York Live Arts, New York City, as fiscal sponsor for Joanna Kotze, Brooklyn, New York, received $24,000 over two years to support the development and production of I Love Panorama.

Northern Clay Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $54,200 over two years in support of the Jerome Ceramic Artists Projects grant program.

Northern Lights.mn, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $130,000 over two years to support Northern Lights.mn's Art(ists) On the Verge (AOV) Fellowship program in 2017 and 2018 for Minnesota-based emerging artists working at the intersection of art, technology, and digital culture.

Northern Lights.mn, Minneapolis, Minnesota, as fiscal sponsor for Aniccha Arts/Pramila Vasudevan, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $26,000 over two years in support of the development and production of 3600 Cuts in 2017 and 2018.

Pangea World Theater, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $40,000 over two years in support of Pangea World Theater's Alternate Visions Series for emerging playwrights of color to develop and produce new work in 2016-17 and 2017-18.

Performance Space 122, Brooklyn, New York, received $50,000 to support emerging artists' commissions and residency fees for 2016-17. 

Performance Zone/The Field, New York City, as fiscal sponsor for Christina Masciotti, Queens, New York, received $10,000 to support the development and production of Raw Bacon From Poland in 2017. 

Performance Zone/The Field, New York City, as fiscal sponsor for Juliana May, Queens, New York, received $10,000 in support of the development and production of development and production of Shoplifter at the mill in 2018. 

Pillsbury House Theatre, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $30,000 over two years in support of the development of new works by emerging Minnesota and New York City playwrights as part of the mainstage programming, including the annual new play reading series THREE MONDAYS in 2017 and 2018.

Pillsbury House Theatre, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $75,000 over two years in support of emerging Minnesota-based artists participation in the Naked Stages program in 2017 and 2018.

Pillsbury House Theatre, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $73,000 over two years in support of emerging artists’ participation in the Non-English Speaking Spoken Here: The Late Nite Series in 2017 and 2018.

Playwrights’ Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $112,000 over two years for its Many Voices fellowship and mentorship program in 2017-18 and 2018-19.

Playwrights Horizons, New York City, received $50,000 over two years in support of the New Works Lab and support for at least one production by a New York City based emerging writer.

Poets House, New York City, received $68,000 over two years in support of the Emerging Poets Fellowship Program in 2017 and 2018.

Printed Matter, New York City, received $24,000 to support the Emerging Artists' Publication Series in 2016-17.

Red Eye Theater, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $66,000 over two years in support of emerging Minnesota-based artists in New Works 4 Weeks in 2017 and 2018.

Rhizome, New York City, received $40,000 over two years to support commissions and microgrants to emerging New York City-based artists for 2016 and 2017.

Rochester Art Center, Rochester, Minnesota, received $46,000 over two years to support the Emerging Artists Program for 2017 and 2018.

Roulette Intermedium, Brooklyn, New York, received $140,000 over two years to support commissioning and residency programs for emerging composers based in New York City.

Saint John's University, Collegeville, Minnesota, received $51,500 over two years in support of The Saint John's Pottery's Emerging Artist in Residence Program in 2017 and 2018. 

Smack Mellon, New York City, received $44,000 over two years in support of emerging New York City-based artists’ participation in the Artist Studio Program in 2017-18 and 2018-19.

Socrates Sculpture Park, Long Island City, New York, received $50,000 over two years in support of the Emerging Artist Fellows Program for 2016-17 and 2017-18.

Soho Repertory Theatre (Soho Rep), New York City, received $40,000 over two years in support of new play commissioning, development and production for emerging New York City-based artists in 2016-17 and 2017-18.

Springboard for the Arts, Saint Paul, Minnesota, as fiscal sponsor for Katie Ka Vang, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, received $12,000 to support the development and production of Katie Ka Vang's Final Round in 2016.

Springboard for the Arts, Saint Paul, Minnesota, received $68,000 over two years in support of artist development and resource programs in 2017-18 and 2018-19. 

Streb Lab for Action Mechanics, Brooklyn, New York, received $46,000 over two years to support Streb Lab for Action Mechanics' GO! Emerging Artist Commissioning Program in 2017 and 2018. 

Studio Museum in Harlem, New York City, received $38,000 over two years to support the Artists-in-Residence Program for 2017 and 2018. 

The TEAM, Brooklyn, New York received $24,000 over two years to support the development and production of Primer For A Failed Superpower.

The Textile Center of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $37,000 in support of the Jerome Fiber Artists Project Grant Program and General Services for Emerging Artists. 

Threads Dance Project, Golden Valley, Minnesota, received $10,000 to support the creation and production of Uncertain Reality (working title) in 2017.

Tofte Lake Center, Ely, Minnesota, received $53,800 over two years in support of the participation of New York City and Minnesota artists in the Emerging Artist Residency Program in 2017 and 2018. 

VSA Arts, Minneapolis, Minnesota, received $42,000 over two years in support of the 2017 and 2018 Minnesota Emerging Artist Grant program.

Zeitgeist, Saint Paul, Minnesota, received $33,000 over two years for its Composer Workshop in 2017 and 2018 for emerging Minnesota composers.
